The simple grounding problem is illustrated below. A new 230 kV Substation (named East Central) is planned. It will be connected to a substation (named Greenbay) via an overhead transmission line network. The objective of the analysis is to provide a new grid design for East Central Substation. The final design is to limit touch and step voltages to safe levels for personnel within the substation area.
The East Central substation and associated grounding system under study is located in an isolated area (i.e., not in an urban area and not close to any pipelines), where there are no major geological disturbances (ocean, rivers, valleys, hills, etc.). The input data requirements for this study is presented in the topic entitled Input Data Specification.
