Initial Grounding Grid Design

Most of the data entry regarding the grid (see Substation Grounding System) will be carried out using the graphical tools available from the main screen of AutoGrid Pro, some extra data can be specified by clicking on the Grid button located in the Project Toolbox.

Steps:

  1. Click the Grid button located in the Project Toolbox.

  2. Main Ground option is selected by default.

Note: The Main grounding grid must be defined and energized by a non-zero voltage or current.

  1. The Use Value Calculated by the Fault Current Distribution Module (if available) option is selected by default.

Note: This instructs the program to use the fault current calculated in the Fault Current Analysis module as the energization current for the grid. If the fault current data is not available, a default 1000 A will be used in the calculation.

  1. Click OK.

  2. Create Ground Grid using the graphical tool.

  3. Define Observation Points and Profiles.

At this point, you have completed the data entry for the grid specification.
