I just thought I would post a quick
note regarding the SES CDEGS UG meeting for 2005.
I found the meeting and conference
to be very well organized and rewarding in so many ways. The SES
CDEGS team made themselves available for many questions and
suggestions regarding improvements, limitations and applications of
the software. The CDEGS team are always willing to improve the
software for its users, which from my experience with software, is
rare!
Thanks to CDEGS for preparing such a
great book for us to reference and remember the topics suggested.
Would it be possible to post on the
website the various presentations (PDF format or PowerPoint) that
people have prepared (Especially those who's notes didn't make it
into the book!).
Learning how our colleagues use the
software and solve problems in different ways can only be a good
thing for our industry. The openness of all the conference
participants is refreshing in contrast to the typical reluctance to
share information on a formal level. As I am a new user (1.5+ years)
and engineer, I benefited from learning from colleagues with more
experience and technical expertise than myself. Thanks to the
host company Beta Engineering for finding such great conference
facilities and contributing financial support that apparently, is so
very important. Hopefully my company can contribute by hosting in the
future (maybe Canmore, Alberta, Canada? Any interest?).
Perhaps SES could start another topic
here specific to the UG meeting where we could make comments, praise
and suggestions for next year. Maybe people have comments on format,
what they liked, what they would like changed. Discussion will
hopefully bring up new ideas we've never thought of.
Kudos to Corpro for hosting in 2006. I
look forward to meeting the users, new and old in Houston!
